The Gas Meter Shop is 16,000 square feet of well lighted space within our 264,000 square foot main facility in York, SC. 11,000 square feet is climate and humidity controlled with the temperature being equalized at a constant level throughout the year. The remaining 5,000 square feet is used for painting and material handling.

DATA COLLECTION SYSTEM
Austin International is well known for tracking meters and capturing meter data through our Power Track Data Collection System. All meters flowing through the Gas Shop will be bar coded upon receipt and tracked throughout the process. Bar coding can be done to customer specifications, or if you do not have a bar coding system, we will be happy to provide a format that is somewhat common in the industry. When meters are shipped back to the utility, AS LEFT calibration data will be emailed to the customer. We will maintain data on our system for 5 years.

All of the Provers are networked together through a wireless network and data is maintained in a Dell Server. All data is backed up daily and a back up tape is maintained in a fireproof box.

Test & Condemn
Gas meters will be received into the Power Track System, tested on our certified provers and scrapped. AS FOUND data will be provided to the customer in their specific data file format. Austin International is responsible for scrapping the meter.

Refurbish & Calibrate
Gas Meters will be received into the Power Track System, bar coded, cleaned, calibrated, painted and a final bar code label affixed to the meter. Meters will be packaged for shipment back to the customer. All Snap Seals, Cups and Gaskets are included.

ERT Testing
All gas meters equipped with Itron ERT’s will be checked and verified against the meter’s index. If the ERT is in agreement with the index, no adjustment will be made, but an option code will be set in the data file to indicate that the ERT was checked. If the ERT does not agree with the index, we will either reset both the ERT and index to zero or reset the ERT to match the index.

ERT Battery replacement
Gas meters equipped with Itron ERTs that have a battery usage of greater than 10 years will be replaced. Batteries will be replaced with Xeno Energy batteries. Leads from the battery connecting to the ERT will be soldered and shrink tubing installed over the soldered connector. Potting compound similar to that provided from the factory will be placed around the battery in the ERT enclosure.

Temperature Compensation Conversion
The addition of Temperature Compensation to a meter can be provided for an additional fee per meter plus the cost of the TC module.

Replacement of Index
Index replacement ( 2 Lb or TC) can be provided for an additional fee plus the cost of the index.

Rebadging of Meters
We have sources available to make new badges for meters upon request.
