Sentry 2K/3S
We need your advice with our Sentry 2K/3S

We have been asked by a couple of utilities to develop an adapter to convert Form 2K installations to Form 3S. The picture attached shows the prototype. It is very accurate and as easy to install as a 2K meter. The next step for us is to develop tooling for the base, bus bars and miscellaneous parts necessary to create a professional looking product. If dictated by the market, we are prepared to make the investment. .

The Sentry 2K/3S is rated for a full 400 amps. The current transformer installed in the base has a ratio of 400:5 with a rating factor of 1.2. It installs exactly the same as a 2K meter. The adapter is designed to become a permanent part of the meter socket. The Sentry 2K/3S converts the installation from a 2K to a Form 3S meter, 240 volts, class 10 or 20. The final accuracy will have a maximum deviation from the installed meter of less than 0.15%. A CT shorting plunger is installed across the jaws to accommodate shorting of the CT when the meter is removed.

We need your input! We understand that most utilities have opted to derate many of their 2K installations to 320 amps using a 2K to 2S adapter.

Do you have 2K installations that cannot be derated?

We anticipate the selling price to be $200 or less once in production.

If this adapter was available, how many do you foresee purchasing in the next 3 years?
